Copy 1: Manuscript recipe for orange marmalade penciled on blank lined page tipped in after page 416. Penciled addresses written on verso of rear free end paper.
Copy 2: Manuscript recipe for "mustard pickel" adhered to front paste-down. Manuscript recipe for "Jinger cakes" adhered to page 7. Some marginalia throughout. Manuscript recipes written on all of the blank, lined pages tipped in between pages 416 and 417. Recipe and notes written on rear end papers and paste-down. Material laid in: Multiple 19th and early 20th century manuscript recipes and formulas (such as Mr Bushley's remedy for rheumatism, nine day pickles, Sailor Duff pudding, Dutch relish, "mock angle food cake," "eggless, butterless, milkless miners(?) cake," etc.). Many of the manuscript recipes have names attributed to them such as Mrs Jenson, Mr Bushley, Jessie Allen, Lacy M. Doan, Leah E. Favreau, Hattie Chapman Clay, Effie Bonnett, etc. There are also two letters - one from Rockford, Michigan to C.A. Bartholomew from Robert M. Allen dated Aug 20, 1925, and one to Aunt Ella, July 5, from Chap & Chappie. Also laid in are multiple pages taken from various cookbooks including a book with the running title "Family receipt book" possibly from early 19th century. Lastly, laid in is a poem titled "The Keyboard" by William Watson clipped from a newspaper.
