Early Italian inscriptions in at least two hands throughout volume, including underlining, manicules, and other signs of readership, as well as rudimentary marginal drawings of a bow and arrow, eyeballs(?), a bird, a standard, a bell, a human head, a carriage, and a mitre and crozier, among other things; other signs of reading in pencil in numerous locations throughout; twentieth-century lithographed bookplate, signed "AM[?] sc", on front paste-down: "Ex libris Louise Phillips"; clipping with quotation related to title by J.A. Symonds affixed to front paste-down; bookseller's description (annotated in pencil with "not our copy") affixed to front paste-down; facsimile of "lead line of fol.
