Summary:
Contained in this collection are the records of the Associate Provost and its predecessor units. The administrative subject files contain materials relating to the administrative decisions and plans of the Associate Provost and its relation to academic and administrative units. The committee files document the work of various committees on campus with which the Associate Provost had an interest in or responsibility for. Also found in this collection are the records pertaining to the contract agreement of the Student Information System (SIS), general budget materials for the University, as well as a small group of information on the academic/residential colleges. Scattered throughout all series can be found correspondence, statistics, memoranda, proposals, reports, personal papers, minutes, agendas, policy papers, spreadsheets and departmental requests.

Biographical Sketch:
The position of Associate Provost was created in 1975 during a reorganization of assistant provost offices and responsibilities. The position was dissoved during another restructuring of the Office of the Provost during the 1995-1996 academic year and its duties were absorbed by other units. During the position's existence, the Associate Provost reported and was accountable to the Provost. Responsibilities assigned to the Associate Provost assisted the Provost in his/her duties as the principal academic officer of the University. In doing so, the Associate Provost represented and acted for the Provost as necessary and appropriate. This person was responsible for the coordination and implementation of academic program planning and budgeting. The Associate Provost also provided supervision of multiple units including their budgetary matters, personnel matters, programs/curriculum and physical facilities. The Associate Provost also served as advisor to the Provost.
