Summary:
The Latin American Studies Center records include project records, correspondence, special bulletins, as well as newsletters, brochures, and reports about the center. The project materials on Michigan State University partnerships in Argentina, Ecuador, and Brazil include correspondence, U.S. Agency of International Development (AID) contracts, and reports. Of particular note is the Programa de Educação Agricola Superior (PEAS) project with Brazil's Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC). The project also included partnerships with over 25 different U.S. universities. Additionally, there is information about the Peace Corps Training Program in Chile (1964-65), Graduate Education in Agriculture in Brazil, and Business Administration in Saõ Paolo. The material related to the center includes newsletters, brochures, a comprehensive summary of MSU's cultural centers and international education focus from 1973. There are also special bulletins on topics related to Latin American studies, Peace Corps Training Program syllabi for Chile, as well as reports on various Latin American issues. The collection also includes a photograph of the MSU survey team in Balcare, Argentina and reel-to-reel tapes. Of note in the reel-to-reel tapes is audio of the Latin American Studies Conference in October 1966. There is also "Relacion de Objetos Etnograficos que Salen a la Exposicion de Monterrey 1968" which includes photographs and descriptions of items exhibited.
