The records of the Michigan State University Statutes Committee contain the 1965 revised edition of the collected statutes, rules, regulations, and by-laws of Michigan State University as compiled by the committee between 1963 and 1965. The statutes were split into 21 chapters, with an introduction and some front matter. The materials were removed from a binder and placed in folders in the same order they were removed. Topics covered in the collection include the basis for the University, rules governing the Board of Trustees, faculty, faculty organizations, student services, student regulations, retirement programs, university property, and Oakland University.

Biographical Sketch:
The Statutes Committee was an ad hoc committee created in 1963 to compile all University policy statements regarding statutes, rules, regulations and by-laws. Dean William H. Combs was chair of the committee. The committee presented its findings to MSU President John Hannah on March 5, 1965. A revised edition was given to Hannah on July 15, 1965.
