Edward R. Murrow narrates a CBS-TV docudrama entitled "The Night America Trembled" about the events that occurred the night of Orson Welles' famous CBS-Radio Mercury Theatre radio broadcast of H.G. Welles' "War of the Worlds" produced and directed by Orson Welles which aired on Sunday, October 30, 1938. The docudrama looks at how some people in the unsuspecting public took the broadcast as a real news report about a Martian invasion. Starring Alexander Scourby, Ed Asner, Warren Oates, John Astin, and James Coburn making his television debut. Warren Beatty appears in a bit part as a card-playing college student.
