Description
Summary:
This catalogue describes Alaska native language materials at the research library and archive of the Alaska Native Language Center, University of Alaska, Fairbanks. The volume covers the sections of the library devoted to Indian languages as well as the general and bibliography sections. Since the collection is almost exhaustive, the catalogue is equivalent to an exhaustive bibliography of the subject. The first two sections of the catalogue, devoted to general works and bibliographies, contain works dealing in many cases with both Eskimo-Aleut and Indian languages. Next is the section called Comparative Athabaskan (including Athabaskan-Eyak-Tlingit and Na-Dene), followed by Tsimshian, Haida, Tlingit, and Eyak. The remainder of the Indian languages section is devoted to the Athabaskan languages of Alaska, including Ahtna, Tanaina, Ingalik, Holikachuk, Koyukon, Upper Kuskokwim, Tanana, Tanacross, Upper Tanana, Han, and Kutchin. In addition to the shelflist, subject catalogues have been prepared, covering bibliography, dialects, educational, general, grammar, lexicon, miscellaneous, phonology, place names, text-ethnographic, text-religious, and text-traditional.
