She also talks about the Civilian Conservation Corps' and the Works Progress Administration's local role during the Depression and mentions the Spring Lake Hotel and Mineral Springs, the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter The Escanaba, and Native Americans that lived in the area. During the last ten years of her life, Betty worked at the Tri-Cities Historical Museum, and she was a member of the Spring Lake Historical Society.
