Summary:	Jennifer Depres interviews Grand Haven photographer Harold Bretschneider. After high school, Harold worked at the Eagle Ottawa Leather Company in the late 1930s. Harold recalls the Depression, the Eagle Ottawa strike, and how his family lost their home. In 1943, he entered the service, receiving medical training to work in the psychiatric and contagious disease wards of the evacuation hospital in New Guinea. After the war, he met and married Bernice Bender in Grand Haven. In 1949, he opened the long-standing Bretschneider Photography Studio on Washington Avenue.
