Thirty-two countries are listed with their respective currency units, some of which are illustrated. A chart shows the average yearly exchange rates between U.S. dollars and the currency units of selected nations during the 10-year period 1978-1987. The reason for changes in exchange rates are explained. A diagram illustrates the international payments process, and the use of travelers checks for spending money abroad is discussed. (JB)
