Description
Summary:
Three significant films featuring Latino characters. Ramona: A young girl growing up on her adoptive mother's ranch in California falls in love with the Indian, Alessandro; when she is denied permission to marry him, the two lovers elope, only to find a life of great hardship and unhappiness amidst the bigotry and greed of the white landowners. Big stakes: A fun ride across the plains of western cinema, which, for 1922, presents a complex look at Mexican and American stereotypes. And now, Miguel: A 12 year old boy has dreamed of visiting the Sangre de Cristo Mountains since he was very little; this summer, he is going to work hard and pray until his father and grandfather realize that he is ready to take the trip with the rest of the older men; his prayers are granted when his older brother is drafter; his father needs an extra body and grudgingly allows Miguel to accompany them.
