The plantation system in southern life: Describes how the plantation system affected the economic and social patterns of the South before the Civil War, and how the lingering effects of this system are in evidence today. Recreates life on a typical plantation dominated by one crop--cotton.
Palmour Street: Depicts events in the daily life of a Negro family living on Palmour Street in Gainesville, Georgia. Illustrates basic concepts on mental health, and points out the influences, both negative and positive, that parents can have upon the mental and emotional development of their children.
Teddy: Describes the experiences of a black teenager, focusing on his views of the system and showing his relationship with the church, school, and community. |
