Description
Summary:
Robert E. Runser was chief bibliographer for the MSU Libraries from 1968 to 1983. During that time he not only helped build the Libraries' research collections, but also contributed his considerable expertise as a printer. While at MSU, Runser, whose own Rob Run Press was known nationwide, designed and printed title posters for the library's book displays and contributed copies of other works. The Rob Run Press Archive includes more than 250 examples of letterpress items, designed and printed over a span of 47 years, by Robert E. Runser, proprietor of The Rob Run Press and Paper Mill. The Archive includes books (some miniature), pamphlets, holiday cards and remembrances, exhibit posters, and more. Also included are a few examples of works by Runser's contemporaries, notably the Silver Buckle Press and the Perishable Press. Students of graphic design, typography, printing and museum studies will each find something of value within the archive to inform their studies.
