Summary:
As a student, David Khilji was a political activist at Eastern Michigan University and at Michigan State University. His political interests were broad and he was involved with Native American issues, Middle Eastern issues and Chicano and Latino issues. Khilji was born, raised and educated in the Detroit area. He was active in university Latino and Chicano organizations. He was a member of the Latino Student Association (LSA) at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) where he graduated in 2006. He was also a member of MEXA (Movimiento Estudiantil Xicano de Aztlán) at Michigan State University from 1999-2001 and a member of the grass roots non-profit organization, Xicano Development Center (XDC) in Lansing, Michigan. This collection of documents consist of 7 folders relating to Khilji's interest in campus activities. Of particular note is the folder on the construction of a memorial fountain at EMU honoring union labor organizer and President of the United Farm Workers Cesar E. Chavez. This collection is part of the José Treviño Chicano/Latino Activism Collections at MSU.
