Description
Summary:
Historiographical tradition associates the practice of the crime of poison at the time "enlightened" of the Renaissance and limits its use to an elite circle, that of the aristocracy attached to royal power. In line with recent work on other periods undermining this conventional wisdom, we propose a reassessment of the presence of venom and its remedies in England, Spain and France through various scholarly writings, political and literary. This makes it possible to observe occurrences of poison antidote and his inseparable, both materially and metaphorically, and to measure social fears it generates.
