Description
Summary:
Three rows of drawings depict the challenges faced by prisoners with HIV/AIDS in Kenya. The first row shows an inmate working in a field with a hoe while an armed officer stands by; in an adjoining drawing, inmates sit on the ground stringing beads while an officer sits nearby. The second panel shows two women walking along a road, gesturing to a third, gaunt woman who is walking behind them. The third panel shows a prison yard in which male prisoners play soccer while two gaunt prisoners stand by the side; a prison support group led by a man dressed in street clothes and supervised by a prison guard; and a group of women prisoners, one who is about to punch another woman, while another woman voices her objection. The last row shows three prison guards in the yard, one of whom is gaunt and holds one hand to his face, while the others comment about his HIV status and supporting him nonetheless. The final panel shows prisoners seated outside a clinic and one prisoner inside, talking to a woman dressed in a white jacket who sits behind a desk and under a sign reading "V.C.T. Know your HIV status.". Contact information and the logo for the Legal Resources Foundation Trust Governance & Advocacy Programme appear at the bottom, along with the flag of the European Community. A red AIDS ribbon appears in the upper left corner.
