Part one of the 1994 Michigan Writers Symposium titled, "Lesbian and Gay Voices: A Tribute to Isabel Miller". Isabel Miller is a pseudonym of lesbian writer Alma Routsong, a native of Traverse City, MI and a graduate of Michigan State University. Anita Skeen moderates presentations by writers Katherine Forrest, Lev Raphael, and Barbara Grier who each reflect on sexuality and their own writing careers. Forrest reads from her book, "Murder by tradition" and Raphael reads from a short piece called "Dancing on Tisha B'Av". Carole Armstrong, acting director of the Michigan State University Libraries, convenes the symposium. Held at the Kellogg Center and sponsored by the MSU Libraries, the MSU College of Arts and Letters, the MSU Department of English, the MSU Women's Studies Department, and Schuler Books.
