Description
Note:The title unmentionables is printed with a strike-out dash going through the "un".
"The first porfolio to come from Panty Pulping ... is dedicated to those brave souls who first exposed, snipped, pulped, and transformed their underwear during the first Panty Pulping workshop in August of 2012 at the Green Door Studio in Burlington, Vermont. Their reasons for doing so were as unique as the individuals themselves, but we were all creatively united with the intention of calling an end to violence against women and girls. un-mentionables was assembled, printed, and bound by Margaret Mahan and Drew Matott at BluSeed Studios in Saranac Lake, NY."--Sheet accompanying portfolio.
This portfolio is dedicated to the first Panty Pulpers: Bonnie Ahl, Erin Debernardi, Eric Eickmann, Sarah Hendel, Hiroka Nakahira, Alicia Pacelli, Lindsay Pokorak, Amanda Rohdenburg, Christine Steele."--Leaf [2]."
Limited edition of 8 copies, signed and numbered.
The sheets were formed in solidarity against sexual and domestic violence. In transforming their underwear into pulp, the papermakers addressed the question: to what extent does femininity affect your identity? The paper was made from underwear and abaca at the Green Door Studio under Margaret Mahan's facilitation. The paper for the porfolio cases was made by Mahan from her clothing at the University of Iowa's Oakdale Campus."--Colophon."
"The colophon was printed by Drew Matott using a Vandercook press and brush type. The title page was pulp-printed & the portfolio bound at BluSeed Studios in Saranac Lake, NY. ... a publication of Free Your Mind Press"--Colophon.
The title was relief printed by Mahan. The portfolio is sealed with dress hooks and black cord to mimic a corset.
The portfolio is accompanied by a broadside, "Panty Pulping Rises" (36 x 24 cm.) a poster for Panty Pulping's workshops that happened in conjunction with Eve Ensler's V-Day campaign One Billion Rising.
