Description
Summary:
Albert Speer, Minister of Armaments and War Production for the Third Reich and Adolf Hitler's chief architect, provides an intimate look at Hitler and his own relationship with Hitler. Speer talks about Eva Braun's relationship with Hitler and about the Fuhrer's personal habits of exercise and diet. Speer comments on his own views of antisemitism, of feeling guilty when he learned of the atrocities, and suggests that the level of secrecy in the NAZI hierarchy meant he never learned of the Final Solution. He describes his final visit with Hitler, flying a small plane into an encircled Berlin not knowing if he would live or die. Donahue challenges Speer asserting it is unbelievable that Speer could have circulated in the top echelon of the party without knowing more. Speer talks about his schooling, meeting his wife, and her loyalty to Speer during his imprisonment. On "The Phil Donahue Show."
