Description
Summary:
"This web page provides map data (physical region boundary locations and defining characteristics, as well as region names and their descriptive data) for Michigan's 91 physiographic regions. The web interface enables the user to zoom around the state and explore these regions at a variety of scales. In addition to the standard backgrounds provided in Google Maps (roads, satellite images and terrain), this web interface supplies the user with a standard 7.5-minute USGS topographic base, made semi-transparent over a 10-m resolution hillshaded DEM."
Note:"This web page was developed in a graduate class in Geography at Michigan State University, during the fall semester of 2009. Geography staff members Randall Schaetzl and David Lusch led the study and supervised the class. Class members (in alphabetical order) included Michael Bigsby, Helen Enander, Carolyn Fish, Claire Forgacs, Michael Luehmann, Abby Norton, Aaron Pollyea, Jennifer Powers, and Mark Steigmeyer."
Web page includes link to 2013 article about the mapping project, titled: Mapping the physiography of Michigan with GIS.
