Description
Summary:
The delivery of services that are known to be effective reflects social work's value base and its historic commitment to scientific knowledge. Many schools of social work identify themselves as teaching the principles of evidence-based practices as well as interventions - micro and macro - that have empirical support. Moreover, agencies often align themselves with the delivery of evidence-based interventions and endorse staff training in empirically supported treatments. Yet the actual delivery of evidence-based services to social-work clients remains a challenge. This entry focuses on implementation research, research that seeks to inform how to deliver evidence-based interventions in real-world settings so their benefits can be sustained.
