Many schools of social work identify themselves as teaching the principles of evidence-based practices as well as interventions - micro and macro - that have empirical support. Moreover, agencies often align themselves with the delivery of evidence-based interventions and endorse staff training in empirically supported treatments. Yet the actual delivery of evidence-based services to social-work clients remains a challenge. This entry focuses on implementation research, research that seeks to inform how to deliver evidence-based interventions in real-world settings so their benefits can be sustained.
