Civil rights events covered include the March on Washington, the Civil Rights act of 1964, the death of Martin Luther King Jr., and the rise of the Black Power movement. Political events highlighted include: John F. Kennedy's victory over Vice President Richard Nixon, the deaths of John and Robert Kennedy, President Johnson's announcement that he will not seek the Democratic nomination for president, and 1968 presidential election. The culture of the 1960s is also described with reports on the music, arts, and writings created during the decade. Describes the spread of communism and changing American attitudes toward communist states like China and even the Soviet Union. Narrator not identified.
