Description
Summary:
WUOM reporter Steve Carmody looks at the summer military exercises of the Michigan National Guard and regular Army units in other parts of the country which have been given a heightened level of attention due to conspiracy theorists. Major General Greg Vadnais, head of Michigan's National Guard, talks about the objectives for the exercises. Four-star general Frank Grass, chief of the National Guard Bureau at the Pentagon, says the National Guard needs to be as well trained as possible and insists the training exercises are routine. Mark Potok with the Southern Poverty Law Center, explains the conspiracy phenomenon, and says radical right wing groups have been warning about the federal government arresting "patriotic" Americans for decades. Excerpts of right-wing broadcaster Alex Jones are featured.
