"A drink by drink, day-by-day accounting of flips, toddies, slings, mugs of brandy, rum (both New England and West Indies), etc. illustrating the drinking habits of 18th century New England. There are occasional entries for rum and brandy in larger amounts as well as meals, salt, sugar, paper, and in one stance, "one cake of chocolate". While the keeper of these accounts remains anonymous, "Sterling" is written several times on the wrappers and a number of names here are to be found in the Massachusetts town's early records."--Bookseller's information.
