Contained in Empire Online are documents from the CO 935 and FO 407, 423, 481 and 492 files, from the National Archives' Confidential Print series generated by the Foreign and Colonial Offices. All items marked "Confidential Print" were printed and circulated immediately to leading officials in the Foreign Office, to cabinet, and to heads of British missions abroad. Some of the papers are one-page letters or telegrams, others are large volumes or texts of treaties.
