Services of LAHR include the Lesbian/Gay Hotline, founded in 1981, which provides supportive and anonymous telephone counseling, referrals for doctors, lawyers, and mental health professionals, and crisis intervention by trained volunteers. LAHR sponsors the Greater Lansing Gay Men's Chorus (founded in 1989) and the annual Prism Award for individuals who have made significant contributions to the Greater Lansing LBGT community. The LAHR-PAC, a separate entity, supplies questionnaires to local political candidates to learn their positions on LGBTQ issues and ranks them prior to elections. Other related local organizations represented within the collection include Michigan Organization for Human Rights (MOHR), the Lansing-based Capital Men's Club, and the Lansing Area Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (P-FLAG).William "Bill" Beachler died on January 11, 2016 at the age of 70.
