Description
Summary:
Darrell Tennis, labor activist and political consultant, discusses his childhood, education, military service and his long career in Michigan. He talks about starting as an administrative assistant to Michigan AFL-CIO President Bill Marshall, becoming a lobbyist for the organization, starting his own lobbying firm, his role in updating labor laws, collective bargaining in state and local government and the recent passage of right-to-work laws in Michigan. Tennis says that term limits have created inexperienced legislators who don't know enough about labor issues and that as workers become more desperate they will be motivated to advocate for change in Michigan. Tennis is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor emeritus of Labor and Industrial Relations.
