Contemporary or near-contemporary Italian marginalia (in at least two hands) in several locations throughout; stamped in gold on upper cover: heraldic device incorporating a stork standing on one foot and holding a snake in its beak, with three fleurs-de-lis above, and flanked by initials "AM," and with an unread motto below (perhaps the stamp of a member of the Cicogna Mazzoni family); coated green twine threaded through middle of book and extending down spine; lead bull attached to twine has on one side, "Biblioteca Nazionale V.E. Roma," and on the other, "Esposizione libri antichi"; bookseller's label on front paste-down: C.E. Rappaport, libri rari, Roma; illustrated and armorial bookplate, signed "Armando Roversi-Ala inv. [...]," on front paste-down, incorporating text "Alessandro il Mantovano," "Roma, A.D. MCMXXIV" and an Italian couplet incorporating the possible initials of the owner, "AR" (Conte Alessandro Magnaguti?); 20th-century bookseller's notes in French on rear paste-down; initials PPM inscribed in ballpoint pen on both paste-downs; correspondence with bookseller, Bibliopathos, Verona, Italy, along with invoice and shipping information, available in MS 466 Box 2 Folder 183.
