|a In a two part interview, American author Erica Jong talks about her novel "Fear of flying", famously controversial for its attitudes towards female sexuality. Jong talks about the book as a "quest novel", about the portrayal of female sexuality by male authors, and says the book is about the conflict between security and freedom. She explains her character's motivation and the quandary she finds herself in trying to chose between a husband and a lover or needing a second relationship to counterbalance her marriage. In the second interview Jong talks about her newest book "Fanny, being the true history of the Adventures of Fanny Hackabout-Jones" a retelling of the 18th century book "Fanny Hill". She talks about the origins of and ingredients in the seafood and meat dish Solomon Gundy featured in the book. Jong explains the motivations of her protagonist and says "all great novels are about sex".
