Description
Summary:
David McCullough narrates a biography of Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., a former pastor and the first Black congressman from the Northeast United States who served eleven terms as a powerful fighter for civil rights representing New York. Activist Marian Logan describes Powell as a "once in a lifetime" man. Powell speaks powerfully against segregation, political harassment against him, and racism in America. Followers describe Powell as a figment of hope for races discriminated against in Congress and evidence of high Black success in his early political career. Powell announces his removal from Congress during a California rally. McCullough provides a brief eulogy for Powell's passing in 1972.
