Description
Summary:
Consider the power of the pen in shaping our politics, our culture, and the world around us. As an activist's tool, it has often proven mightier than the sword. Knight presented his slideshow, They Shoot Black People Don't They: A Cartoonist's Look at Police Brutality on February 20, 2015 at 3:30pm in the Walton Reading Room at Mullins Library, University of Arkansas. Created by Knight from a selection of over 20 years of his socio-political cartoons, the slideshow of funny and informative material takes a look at police brutality in the African-American community from the 1991 beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles police officers, to the fatal shooting of Michael Brown by a Ferguson, MO police officer this past summer, and even more recently, the shooting of 12-year old Tamir Rice by a police officer in a Cleveland, OH park.
Note:Compilation of cartoons and comics which were featured in the author's slideshow.
