Bank executive and presidential appointee Robert "Bob" Nash was born on September 26, 1947 in Texarkana, Arkansas. While working in the Washington, D.C. Deputy Mayor's Office, Nash attended night school at Howard University where he earned his M.A. degree in urban studies in 1972. Nash returned to Arkansas in 1974, working for several years with the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation before being appointed to serve in the governor's office in 1983. In 1989, he was appointed president of the Arkansas Development Finance Authority. When President Bill Clinton was elected in 1992, Nash was appointed first to the Department of Agriculture and later as director of presidential personnel. Beginning in 2001, Nash served as the vice chairman of ShoreBank Corporation, the nation's largest community development bank. Nash was also active with a number of organizations, including serving as a board member of the Urban League of Little Rock and the Southern Center for International Studies.
