520 |a Physician and administrator Dr. Linda Rae Murray was born on August 25, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from the University of Illinois, Chicago, Murray remained there, earning her M.D. degree in 1977. She attended the University of Illinois School of Public Health in Chicago where she earned her M.P.H. degree. After completing her medical degree, Murray became a resident physician in internal medicine and occupational therapy at Cook County Hospital where she remained until 1980. In 1983, she became medical director for Manitoba Federation of Labour in Winnipeg, Canada. She returned to Chicago and held a number of posts, including chief medical officer of Primary Care & Community Health. Murray was also the attending physician at Woodlawn Health Center. Murray was active in several community groups and organizations, and received numerous awards, including the Daniel Hale Williams Award.
