Corporate executive George Levi Knox III was born on September 6, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Knox graduated with his B.A. degree in political science from Tuskegee University in 1967 and entered the United States Foreign Service in 1968. In 1975, Knox earned his M.B.A. degree from Harvard University and was hired by McKinsey and Company, an international consulting firm. In 1977, Knox joined Phillip Morris Companies Incorporated. He later moved to the Corporate Affairs Department where he retired as vice president. Formerly chairman of the board of the Studio Museum in Harlem and a board member of the American Ballet Theatre, Knox was an advisor to the Japan Foundation and vice chairman of the Roosevelt Institute, a member of the Public Affairs Committee of the United States Military Academy, a trustee of the African American Experience Fund and served on the Business Advisory Council of the United States Information Agency.
