Memoirs of the author (an Israeli journalist) who, together with her mother, escaped deportation by living as Aryans in Berlin with forged identity papers and help from the underground. They had to change their jobs and living quarters several times when neighbors or co-workers became suspicious. States that at the end of the war there were ca. 12,000 Jews still living in Berlin - about 1,200 survived in hiding, a few thousand were married to non-Jews and managed to avoid deportation, and a few thousand more were interned in camps in and around Berlin.
