Description
Summary:
A documentary tracing how today's tabloid journalism evolved from one of the landmark events of American mass communications -- the Lindbergh kidnapping case. Media critic Lewis Lapham discovers in this case the origin of many of such elements as infotainment, celebrity anchors, "soft news," papparazzi, the media "feeding frenzy." He reconstructs the media coverage of the Lindbergh case and of the accused kidnapper Bruno Hauptmann using clips from the "mega-stories" of the present -- the O.J. Simpson trial, Princess Diana's death and the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
