In and oral history interview, Phoebe Nowaczewski talks about her work as a gear cutter at Dodge Main during the war, being a single mother, her union involvement, being elected Recording Secretary for UAW Local 961, different pay and work for women, and the role she played in eliminating the fifty-four hour work week. She also talks about first running for union office in 1952, her service on the Local and Regional Women's Committee, contributing language to the UAW Constitutional Convention resolutions, the types of jobs she had and the plants she worked in, her family, and her social life.
