The European mathematicians' migration to America / Lipman Bers ; introduction by Paul R. Halmos.

In this lecture, Lipman Bers tells the story of European mathematicians who migrated to the U.S. prior to and during World War II, which doubled the number of active mathematicians in the U.S. He gives insight on the science of mathematics and the culture of the mathematical community.
