Description
Summary:
"There is a fog of misunderstanding today surrounding immigrants and the immigration debate. This story of Sikhs in America helps dispel that fog, recounting the experiences of this immigrant minority that provide important lessons for the polarized immigration debate today. Since first emigrating to this country in the late 1800's, Sikhs emerged from early days marred by racism and bigotry and grew gradually to embody the best of what immigrant communities contribute to America. But even as Sikhs rose over centuries to serve in important and prominent positions within the American business industry, government, academia and the military, their community has once again faced racist backlash and hate crimes stemming from the way they look, speak and pray. In a time when the immigration debate may be more heated than ever, this film tells an immigrant story that America needs to hear."--Container.
