520 |a Denise DeCook of DeCook Strategies, talks to the MIRS team about presidential politics and the slower pace of this year's legislative cycle. DeCook claims that Republicans' chances of keeping the state Senate when running in a presidential year is about the same as the last time it happened in the 1960s. She also asserts that modern voters have far more interests than they did 10 years ago. Jase Bolger, the House Speaker who oversaw the drawing of the legislative and congressional boundaries that a federal court panel recently threw out as partisan gerrymandered, discusses the judges' decision and the process by which the maps were drawn. Bolger responds to emails submitted as evidence that Republicans were "packing" and "cracking" the district lines for partisan advantage, testifying that the accusers had no role in redistricting.
