Just a few of many unusual recipes: pigeons in a hole; to turtelize calves head; everlasting syllabub; Isinglass flummery; to candy angelica; artificial ape's milk; black butter; and many more. Also 10 pages devoted to wine and beer. A good many recipes are identified, Mrs. Hodges being the most frequent contributor, but also, for example, 'Mr. Hamilton, Barham Court' (a suburb of Canterbury); 'Mrs. Halford, Paddock' (an estate in Canterbury) and so on."
