Beal, presented by her father, William Beal" (this is Mary Comstock Beal [1848-1915], daughter of William Beal [1806-1872], and sister of William James Beal [1833-1924]); "Family Record" bears numerous inscriptions in several hands, documenting marriages, births, and deaths of Beal family members; marginal markings in pencil in numerous locations throughout (including bracketing of section on temperance on page 81 of concordance); scrap of brown wove paper found between pages 190 and 191; scrap of lined paper found between pages 12 and 13 (second sequence); printed sheet found between page 808 and recto of first plate, headed "Descendants of Joseph Beal present at Rollin at the first Beal reunion, August 20, 1908", with a printed list of attendees below; scrap of cream-colored laid paper found between page 92 (second sequence) and recto of rear free end-paper; laid-in materials removed, and now available in MSS 466; bookseller's pencil inscription on verso of rear free end-paper, including "$200.00" and "Beal family genealogy"; this book had likely been in the possession of W.
