(this is the collector [approximately 1757-1837], a distant cousin of the philosopher Jeremy Bentham); lithographic (?) armorial bookplate, with motto "Fide et amore", on recto of front free end-paper: "John Dunn Gardner, Chatteris House, Cambridgeshire" (this is the British politician and landowner [1811-1903]); "o/u" inscribed (in an early hand?) on leaf 3K1v; modern pencil inscription on leaf [A]3r: "C 2336"; exhibition label and clipped bookseller's description available in MSS 466, Box 1, Folder 214.
