Armorial bookplate, with motto "Deo non armis fido" and signed "Silvester sc., 27 Strand, on front paste-down of both volumes: "John Morse" (this is likely the individual of that name [1776-1844] who lived at Abbotts Wooton in Dorset, formerly of Sprowston Hall and Bagthrope in Norfolk, and who died at Injonville near Havre); inscription at head of both title pages (almost entirely obliterated); brief marginal note on leaf I5r; brief marginal note in pencil at foot of leaf 2F2v; small pencil drawing of a tree in margin of leaf 2H7r; inscription at head of recto of front free end-paper in volume 1: "Herbert G.
