500 |a Over the signature Novanglus a series of articles was published in the Boston gazette by Mr. Adams between January and April 1775, in answer to certain articles in the Tory interest which appeared in the Massachusetts gazette and Boston post-boy over the signature Massachusettensis. Both series were afterwards republished at different times in separate form, the Novanglus letters under the title: History of the dispute with America, from its origin in 1754. Until after the publication of the 1819 edition it was supposed by Mr. Adams that the Massachusettensis papers were the work of Jonathan Sewall, but it is now well established that they were written by Daniel Leonard.
