500 |a Norman was a bookseller in Boston from 1794-1807. The American Antiquarian Society's copy is bound in a blue paper wrapper which is printed with the lower half of the title: The practical house carpenter ... by William Pain ... The first American from the fifth London edition ... Boston: Printed and sold by William Norman, 1797. The only known edition by Norman of Pain's work is dated 1796. Presumably this wrapper was intended to enclose a reprinting of the 1796 edition and was subsequently utilized as binding material for other publications.
