The overall methodology used is similar to the audiolingual method of teaching a foreign language, emphasizing pattern drill and listening rather than learning rules and their exceptions. Primary goals of the program are (1) the development of listening skills and (2) encouraging participation from children in standard English drills in order to provide adequate experience with English as a second language. The guide includes 8 units which list primary and secondary materials and which give special hints for teaching migrant children. The document is appended with suggestions of sounds for gross sound training and with a list of support materials for the program.
