Description
Summary:
The programed course was written to help jail officers assume the demands of jail work and emphasizes that, in addition to routine tasks, officers must be fully prepared to serve an important function for society as well-trained, responsible professionals. Much of the officer's job will depend on his ability to make decisions and to avoid the mistakes and disproven beliefs of the past. The course material includes discussions of mistakes which other men and women have made on the job; this anecdotal background material was supplied by Federal Jail Inspectors. The fourth book of the course is designed to teach the jail officer ways in which he can most effectively manage and control the activities and actions of prisoners in the jail. The book provides a means by which he can consciously develop his supervisory skills and improve his effectiveness as an officer. (Author/AJ)
