Summary:
This training manual concerns the safe use of herbicides in rights-of-way. Included are sections on the impact of herbicides on non-target organisms such as in aquatic areas, on desirable vegetation, and on people and livestock. Descriptions are given of some common annual, biennial, and perennial weeds. The nature and application of herbicides are discussed and the use of herbicides for the following specific situations are given: vegetation abatement; bare ground; selective removal of undesirable vegetation; brush, woody vine, and tree control; and ornamentals. Finally, suggestions are presented for accidental spillage situations or application at excessive rates. (BB)
